September 13, 2024 - The HKPR District Health Unit would like to advise media and the community of an upcoming Board of Health meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
September 5, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is notifying the public that an American Crow found in Dunsford, City of Kawartha Lakes, has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).
Update to alert issued on August 13th: Substance of concern is suspected to be a mix of highly potent opioids and benzodiazepines that is reddish-brown in colour.
August 13, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings in Northumberland County.
August 12, 2024 – As students gear up for the new school year, the HKPR District Health Unit is thrilled to announce the launch of a new online Immunization Update Portal, offering a simple and convenient way for parents and guardians to upload their children’s immunization records directly to the Health Unit.
August 6, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit is advising the public that a mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) in the Brighton area. This marks the first positive case in the region for the season. The mosquito was collected from one of the traps set by health officials on August 1st, 2024.
July 31, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit is pleased to announce the launch of its new Public Health Data Dashboards, a digital resource that aims to better improve the understanding of community health and provide transparency of past and current health trends.
Generally, the Health Unit issues a Boil Water Advisory when there is known contamination of a water supply OR when there is a risk of contamination to the water supply. The Boil Water Advisory helps to protect the health of the community that the water system serves. It is a recommendation for residents to only drink tap water if it has been boiled for at least one minute.
July 8, 2024 –The HKPR District Health Unit is proud to announce the launch of its Pledge and the Programs and Services Experience Survey, a pivotal step in its ongoing commitment to providing critical health support to the public in the HKPR District area.
June 21, 2024 — The HKPR District Health Unit is advising that the Heat Warning Alert issued on June 17, 2024 and the Extended Heat Warning Alert issued on June 19, 2024 for the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County has ended effective today.
