    Boil Water Advisories

    Generally, the Health Unit issues a Boil Water Advisory when there is known contamination of a water supply OR when there is a risk of contamination to the water supply. The Boil Water Advisory helps to protect the health of the community that the water system serves.  It is a recommendation for residents to only drink tap water if it has been boiled for at least one minute.

    June 25, 2024 –The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is pleased to announce the availability of Sexual Health Clinic appointments in the County of Haliburton, held on the second Wednesday of every month from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

  • Extended Heat Warning Alert Issued for the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County

    June 21, 2024 — The HKPR District Health Unit is advising that the Heat Warning Alert issued on June 17, 2024 and the Extended Heat Warning Alert issued on June 19, 2024 for the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County has ended effective today as a result of Environment Canada forecasting conditions that no longer meet heat warning criteria.

    As a member of the Office of the Medical Officer of Health, the Executive Assistant is accountable to the Medical Officer of Health for providing confidential administrative support to the Medical Officer of Health, Board of Health, the Executive Committee and the Management Committee in assigned program areas in order to support the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) 2018 and other duties as assigned by the Medical Officer of Health.

    Special Air Quality Statement Issued for the City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County on Tuesday, June 18th

    June 18, 2024 — The HKPR District Health Unit is informing the City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County that a Special Air Quality Statement has been issued by Environment Canada as the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) will reach a level of 7, indicating high air pollution levels due to hot and sunny conditions.

    June 17, 2024 — The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit is informing [the County of Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County that Environment Canada is forecasting hot, humid weather starting Monday, June 17th through most of the week.
