PORT HOPE and PETERBOROUGH, ON (March 17, 2025) - The Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough Health Unit (formerly the HKPR District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health) would like to advise media and the community of an upcoming Board of Health meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1 p.m.

March 12, 2025 – As the seasons change and spring arrives, private well owners are reminded of the importance of testing their drinking water to ensure it is safe for consumption. Groundwater is typically clean and safe, but contamination can occur due to improper well installation, run-off water, or other environmental factors

March 11, 2025 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings in Northumberland County.  

February 13, 2025 - The Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough Health Unit (formerly the HKPR District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health) would like to advise media and the community of an upcoming Board of Health meeting scheduled for February 19, 2025 at 5 p.m.

February 4, 2025 – Today, the Board of Health for the Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough (HKNP) Health Unit (formerly Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health) announces Dr. Thomas Piggott as the area’s new Acting Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and Chief Executive Officer, subject to the Minister of Health’s approval, effective immediately.

January 30, 2025 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is reminding parents and guardians that failure to update their child’s immunization records could result in school suspension beginning April 1, 2025.
