    November 1, 2023 – November is Radon Awareness Month, and the  Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is gearing up to raise awareness about the dangers of radon gas exposure. Radon is an odourless and colourless radioactive gas that contributes to over 3,200 Canadian deaths annually.

  • COVID-19 Vaccinations Available to All Residents over the Age of 6 Months

    PORT HOPE, ON (October 30, 2023) – Starting today, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to advise residents that the XBB.1.5 COVID-19 vaccine is now available to all residents six months of age and older. Previously the vaccine was only available to those at high risk or 65 years of age and older.

    PORT HOPE, ON (October 24, 2023) – An opioid overdose alert is being issued for Northumberland County after an increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings was reported.
