June 14, 2024 - The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to advise media and the community of an upcoming Board of Health meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m.
June 13, 2024 – As the summer season approaches, the HKPR District Health Unit will be launching its Beach Water Monitoring program, providing regular E. coli test results across 56 monitored public beaches within the County of Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County.
June 12, 2024 - The HKPR District Health Unit is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings in Northumberland County. There is also a trending increase of drug poisonings in the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton.
June 10, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit has been notified of increased pertussis (whooping cough) activity within the school community. Parents and caregivers should be vigilant, as it is possible that children may have been exposed to this highly contagious bacterial respiratory infection.
June 3, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit would like to inform the community that regular updates to the Respiratory Infection Dashboard, which reports local cases, hospitalizations, outbreaks, and other indicators of influenza and COVID-19, will now take a pause until the fall.
May 30, 2024 –The HKPR District Health Unit has released their 2023 Annual Report highlighting the progress made last year. The report shares program and service delivery stories and statistics along with a financial overview about the organization’s activities.
