HKPR District Health Unit’s Team Raises Over $1,500 and Completes 26,000 Push-Ups to Support Mental Health Services

February 27, 2024 – From February 1st to 23rd, 2024, Canadians joined forces in the Push-Up Challenge, organized by the Canadian Mental Health Association the nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness for mental health while promoting physical fitness. Among the dedicated participants were the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, District Health Unit's (HKPR District Health Unit) very own heroes, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge Health Unit (HKPR HU) Heroes team, consisting of 22 members who made a significant impact in the challenge.

The HKPR HU Heroes team exemplified the spirit of unity and determination, collectively completing over 26,000 push-ups and raising an impressive sum of over $1,500 to support critical mental health services in the HKPR district area. Their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the challenge serve as a shining example of the power of community-driven initiatives in effecting positive change.

"We are immensely proud of the HKPR HU Heroes team for their outstanding dedication and contributions to the Push-Up Challenge," remarked Sharon Roesch, Team Captain, and staff member, with the HKPR District Health Unit. "The teams’ efforts not only showcase the importance of physical activity in promoting mental well-being but also highlight the vital role community engagement plays in addressing mental health challenges."

As the 2024 Push-Up Challenge draws to a close, the HKPR District Health Unit extends its heartfelt gratitude to the HKPR HU Heroes team and all participants of the Push-Up Challenge for their unwavering support. Together, they have exemplified the power of solidarity in driving positive change and promoting mental well-being.
