GO-VAXX Bus Returning to Haliburton County
Mobile Vaccination Bus Schedules Three Stops
PORT HOPE, ON (January 19, 2022) - The GO-VAXX bus will once again be rolling into the area, but with a slight change to how it operates.
The retrofitted GO bus that serves as a mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be available to provide first, second and booster doses to eligible individuals. COVID-19 vaccines for children aged 5-11 years will also be available. Moderna will be provided to individuals 30 and older, unless they have a documented allergy to Moderna.
This is not the first time the GO-VAXX bus has stopped in the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit area. This time though, individuals who wish to be vaccinated must book their GO-VAXX bus appointment in advance.
Appointments can be booked starting at 8 am the day before the mobile clinic and can be booked through the Provincial Booking System or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Center at 1-833-943-3900.
“Being fully vaccinated with a booster dose has proven to be effective in preventing severe illness and hospitalization against the Omicron variant,” said Doreen Boville, Health Promoter with the HKPR District Health Unit. “To ensure anyone needing a vaccine can get one, appointments are necessary for a smooth rollout.”
Individuals wishing to get a vaccine on the GO-VAXX bus are asked to bring their Ontario health card. If you do not have a health card or your health card is expired, bring another form of government photo ID such as a driver’s license, passport, Status card, or birth certificate.
Clinics will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Three stops are scheduled for Haliburton County:
- Saturday, January 29, 2022 – A.J. LaRue Arena, 728 Mountain St, Haliburton
- Saturday, February 5, 2022 – Lloyd Watson Community Centre, 2249 Loop Rd, Wilberforce
- Saturday, February 12, 2022 – A.J. LaRue Arena, 728 Mountain St, Haliburton
If you are unable to book an appointment with the GOVAXX bus, the Health Unit has appointments available at COVID-19 vaccination clinics being held throughout the region. A list of dates and times is available on the Health Unit website. Residents are also encouraged to check with local pharmacies or their primary health care providers for more opportunities to get vaccinated.
