    June 10, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit has been notified of increased pertussis (whooping cough) activity within the school community. Parents and caregivers should be vigilant, as it is possible that children may have been exposed to this highly contagious bacterial respiratory infection.

  • Health Unit Warns Community of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) in the Region

    April 16, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit would like to remind parents and guardians to ensure their children’s immunizations are up to date and on file with the local health unit, after being notified of confirmed cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
