About the Opioid Overdose Dashboard

The Opioid Overdose Dashboard reports the number of confirmed and suspected opioid-related overdoses occurring within the HKPR District Health Unit area and among residents of the HKPR District Health Unit occurring outside the HKPR District Health Unit area.

The data is updated weekly and includes the number of overdose events reported for the previous week, the number of overdoses by month for the previous 18-months, and the rate of emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and deaths from confirmed opioid-related overdoses since 2003.  

Additional data contained in the dashboard include the type of opioid involved in unintentional opioid-related deaths, the annual incidence of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), as well as data at the provincial (Ontario) level. 

The Opioid Overdose Dashboard is updated weekly on Wednesdays. 

1. Click/select a report button located across the top of the dashboard to view different content.

2. To View Graphs in Table Format:

Right-click anywhere on the graph you are interested in and select 'Show as a Table'. To go back, click the 'Back to Report' button at the top left of the page.

3. Use Tooltips for More Information:

Hover over a visual to see additional information in a tooltip.

Acute Care Enhanced Surveillance System (ACES), National Ambulatory Care and Reporting System (NACRS), Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN), Chief Coroner of Ontario (OCC), Public Health Ontario (PHO) Interactive Opioid Tool. Local police services data provided by Cobourg Police Service, City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service, and Port Hope Police Service. Local paramedic services data are provided by Haliburton County Paramedic Service, Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service, and Northumberland Paramedics.
