Immunizations for Respiratory Season

Vaccinations play a critical role in protecting individuals and communities, particularly the most vulnerable populations, including the elderly, young children, and those with underlying health conditions. Check your eligibility, learn more about the vaccinations below and stay up to date with your annual vaccinations.

The flu can be serious. It can lead to serious complications that can result in a hospital stay, especially among seniors and young children. Complications can include pneumonia or heart attacks. In some cases, it can result in death. Protect yourself – and others – by learning about the virus, recognizing the symptoms and getting your annual flu shot is your best defense.

Free flu shots are available to Ontarians six months of age and older.

Many health care providers and pharmacies provide the flu vaccine. Contact your doctor or primary care provider to book an appointment.

If your child is under the age of five and does not have a Health Care Provider, you can book an appointment with the Health Unit through the Immunization Clinics by calling 1-866-888-4577 ext. 1507.

COVID-19 vaccines are available to everybody aged 6 months and older in Ontario. The ministry of health is recommending that everyone receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

The Health Unit is only administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children 6 months to 5 years of age. All other individuals are asked to contact their local pharmacy to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
