Public Health Matters - Together, We are HKPR!
As one of Ontario’s 34 public health units, we promote and protect community health through a combination of programs, services, and healthy public policies. We may not treat individual illness, but we do try to prevent residents from getting sick or injured in the first place.
We prepare informative and interactive presentations designed to teach the importance of proper dental hygiene.
We conduct regular food inspections to ensure the safety of the food served in our communities.
We provide free and confidential sexual health services for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
We provide regular beach water testing for 56 public beaches within Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County.
We ensure public and workplaces are compliant with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, banning smoking and vaping in enclosed spaces.
