Addressing Food Insecurity and Poverty

Every year, the HKPR District Health Unit publishes a food insecurity report that highlights the struggles faced by low-income families to pay for basic necessities, such as housing and food, because incomes and social assistance rates are not keeping up with rising costs.

Reportable Diseases

In Ontario, certain infectious diseases (like rabies, hepatitis, measles and chickenpox) must be reported to public health.

Respiratory Infections

Regular updates to the Respiratory Infection Dashboard, which reports local cases, hospitalizations, outbreaks, and other indicators of influenza and COVID-19, will now take a pause until the fall. The dashboard will resume regular updates at the beginning of the 2024/2025 respiratory season in September 2024.
