The HKPR District Health Unit serves communities in the County of Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County, with offices in Port Hope, Haliburton, and Lindsay. Our mission is to promote health and prevent illness through five divisions: Medical Officer of Health, Corporate Services, Foundational Standards, Health Promotion, and Health Protection.

  • Human Resources Advisor

    This position encompasses Human Resources and Payroll support functions and is responsible for assisting and supporting the Human Resources Manager in various functions.

  • RPN Immunization Nurse (Casual Vaccinator)

    As a member of the Health Protection Division the Immunization Nurse is accountable to Health Protection Management for the implementation of the assigned Requirements of the Infectious Diseases Program Standards of the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) 2018 and related protocols and guidelines.

    Public Health Nurse

    As a member of the Health Promotion Division, the Public Health Nurse is accountable to Health Promotion Management for the implementation of the assigned Requirements of the Healthy Growth and Development Program Standards of the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) 2018 and relevant protocols.

    Student Public Health Inspector – Practicum Position

    The Student will work under the guidance of Certified Public Health Inspectors to carry out activities required by the Ontario Public Health Standards related to Food Safety, Safe Water, Rabies Prevention and Control, Health Hazard Prevention and Management and Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control. This opportunity qualifies as field training for the purpose of meeting the practicum requirements of the Board of Certification of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.

    Five(5) Student Positions: Safe Water & Vector-Borne Disease Prevention Programs

    Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough Health Unit will employ five (5) post-secondary school students for the Safe Water and Vector-Borne Disease Prevention Programs. To be clear, these positions will involve working in both the Safe Water and Vector-Borne Disease Prevention Program areas, not one or the other.
